This ten-week course is taught by staff from across the School of Arts, and offers sessions on running seminars; lecturing; planning and delivering activities in and out of the classroom; marking and feedback; TEF and teaching quality assessment; module design and its rationales; digital learning environments, social media and blended learning; equality, disability, reasonable adjustments, and pastoral support. The final session will feature PGR alumni reflecting on interviews for teaching roles, and their teaching experiences at Birkbeck and other institutions.

Deeply embedded in the concrete teaching environment of the School of Arts, this course showcases staff at the cutting edge of different areas of teaching and learning, sharing experience and practical advice with our postgraduates, to help them prepare to teach, and develop their teaching portfolio.

This course is open to all postgraduate researchers, but recommended for those who are getting ready to teach. Students registering for this course are required to attend all sessions. Although the sessions are listed to take place in Room G04, 43 Gordon Square, a few will take place online. Details will be provided closer to the events.
