Working with Bereavement and Loss in Short-term Counselling in H.E - Birkbeck Training Series

When:
Venue: Online

About the Workshop

More often than not, loss is at the core of our therapeutic interventions and while we are used to working with bereavement and loss in short-term counselling in HE, we thought it would be helpful to spend some time reflecting on the process of mourning. In this workshop the trainer will take us though what healthy mourning involves, the impact of loss and the impediments to mourning and how we can work with loss in short-term interventions.

Workshop Themes

  • Process of mourning and impact on the defensive structures
  • Different presentations of clients who might be stuck at various stages during the process of mourning.
  • Loss and trauma
  • What are the impediments to mourning a loss and what is the impact on the therapeutic relationship.
  • Therapeutic interventions aimed at exploring the resistance to dealing with loss.

Ticket price: £70 per workshop.

Workshops are aimed at qualified counsellors, particularly those working with students in a Higher Education setting.

Time: 9.00am to 1.00pm including short breaks
