Lecturer in Transnational Literature and Migration

Sophia Brown researches contemporary cultural production from the Middle East and North Africa, with a focus on Palestine and the Levant. Interests include narratives of exile and migration; human rights discourse and its intersection with literature; reception theory and the politics of publishing. She is the Programme Director of the MA Cultural and Critical Studies and convenor of various BA and MA modules. Sophia is currently working on her first monograph, Voices in Opposition: Palestinian Life Writing and the Challenges of Narration.
