Module description

This module considers the essential debates, key facts and historical developments involved in modern-day transnational migration. It is the second of two modules dedicated to the study of modern-day international migration and transnationalism.

While the first module is focused on international migration, this one is concerned especially with its transnational dimension. Central to this field of study is the relation between (im)migration and integration. Topics addressed include deterritorialisation and citizenship, assimilation and multiculturalism, and transnationalism compared to dual or long-distance nationalism.

Learning objectives
