Module description

This module focuses on research methods and aims to provide you with further skills in critiquing and evaluation research, as well as an understanding of some of the practical and theoretical considerations in carrying out social research.

In this module we will consider and debate principles of social research, and investigate the appropriateness of different approaches to research. Key research techniques will be explored and evaluated.

Teaching methods are participatory, involving lectures, student-led seminars and group work. You will be expected to complete background reading in preparation for each session and to contribute to discussions.
