Project Preparation and Literature Review

• Credit value: 15 credits at Level 7
• Convenor: Professor James Hammond
• Assessment: a literature review outline (25%) and poster presentation (75%)

This module will help you develop your skills as a scientist. In the lectures you will be offered guidance on the scientific method, how to search and read scientific papers and summarise the results in reports. You will also have the chance to practise your presentation skills. Outside of lectures, you will work with your chosen project supervisor to develop your project and produce a literature review.

By the end of this module, you will be able to:

• demonstrate an in-depth understanding of one aspect of astrobiology related to your chosen project
• understand the scientific method
• search, read and synthesise scientific literature.
