Module description
The overall purpose of this module is to provide you with a sound foundation for understanding research and methodology in cross-cultural psychology and their implications for practice.

- Evaluation of cross-cultural research methods
- Exploration of themes and issues in defining culture
- Overview of culture, identity and development of self
- Overview of culture and its effects on social interactions
- Discussion of implications in psychology, education, clinical and business settings
Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will be able to:
- demonstrate an understanding of the influence of culture on human psychology
- demonstrate an understanding of the development of ideas within this field, and of contemporary approaches and issues
- recognise a range of research methods that might be appropriate to the study of this area of psychology (identifying strengths and weaknesses of core methodologies)
- identify the ethical issues when conducting research in this area (with particular reference to harm)
- strengthen sensitivity to cultural diversity in a variety of educational, clinical and business settings.
