- Assessment: an interim project report of 3000-4000 words (60%), half-hour presentation (30%) and a poster (10%)

This module is part of our training programme for research students and research staff; attendance is compulsory for all first-year research students.

Learning objectives
By the end of this module, you will:
- have generic research methods skills needed for pursuing a research project and to provide the necessary foundations in such skills for continuing onto an MPhil/PhD programme
- be familiar with existing areas of research within the Department of Computer Science and Information Systems
- have developed your research methods skills through submission of an interim report on your project work, presented a seminar on that work and obtained formal feedback on both.
