  • Assessment: a 3000-4000-word interim project report (60%), 30-minute interim project presentation (30%) and an academic poster (10%)

Module description

This module is part of our training programme for research students and research staff; attendance is compulsory for all first-year research students.

Learning objectives

By the end of this module, you will:

  • have generic research methods skills needed for pursuing a research project and to provide the necessary foundations in such skills for continuing onto an MPhil/PhD programme
  • be familiar with existing areas of research within the School of Computing and Mathematical Sciences
  • have developed your research methods skills through submission of an interim report on your project work, presented a seminar on that work and obtained formal feedback on both.
