Module description

This module, aimed at advanced learners of Spanish, focuses on the study of the language above the sentence level. Drawing on different theories and concepts within the broad field of (Spanish) Discourse Analysis, we will examine features of language use in context in different text types, including, for example, conversation in youth talk, political discourse, advertising and some modalities of computer-mediated discourse. The module will help you gain better knowledge and understanding of different varieties of the language in relation to different social settings and an awareness of the impact of the medium of interaction as well as contextual and sociocultural factors in language use.

The module is taught in Spanish, using Spanish material.
