Online Privacy and Crypto-Strategies for Academics
Fri 24 February 2017
12:00 – 13:30
Room 106, 43 Gordon Square
In response to the recent passing into law of Theresa May’s Investigatory Powers Act 2016 (more commonly known as the “snooper’s charter”), the Vasari Research Centre for Art and Technology and the Satellite Technology Enhanced Learning Group invite School of Arts students and staff members to an event discussing privacy strategies, identity protection and crypto-techniques for academics and researchers. We will lead a discussion outlining the technological, legal and ethical questions involved in academic communication and data protection. The session is intended for anyone with an interest in online privacy-issues in the current political climate and no existing technical expertise is required. Lunch will be provided courtesy of the Vasari and Satellite.
