Joining UCU
- You can join online via the national UCU web site . This is the quickest way to become a member of UCU. Paper applications forms take longer to process and you need to post them to UCU HQ - it is best to join online. If you do need a paper form you can obtain one from the Birkbeck UCU Branch Secretary or membership officer or
download one here (membership rates are on the form).
- Once you are a member you can update your record online- you will need your membership number and if you haven't registered your username or password you will need to do this first. Birkbeck UCU branch's code is LE176. This is by far the quickest way to change any details - address, employment status &c.
- If you have any membership queries for example change of contact details, transfers to and from other branches, issues around periods of leave/sabbaticals, tax etc try the UCU website first or contact the Branch Secretary or membership officer.

Note: UCU Committee members and Representatives are all volunteers. We take on union duties in addition to our 'day jobs' because we believe the work is important - to the benefit of Birkbeck as an institution, its staff and students, and to the health of society generally. The union will only be as good as you help to make it, so we invite you to get involved now.
