Course structure
Year 1
Latin and/or ancient Greek (beginner's level available); a prescribed non-language module, such as Greek History, Roman History, or The Archaeology of Greece and Rome.
Years 2, 3 and 4
BA Classics: progression is through designated language and literature modules, reaching set book level in one or both ancient languages. This progression may be combined with a number of non-language option modules, such as Literature in Translation; Letters in the Roman World; Ancient Philosophy; Religious and Political Space; Responses to Rome; and The Athenian Empire.
BA Classical Studies: progression is through modules relating to one or more disciplines included in the study of the classical world, such as classical archaeology, ancient history and literature in translation.

- From Republic to Empire: Roman History 133 BC–AD 284
- Literature in Translation
- Religious and Political Space in the Classical and Hellenistic World
- Responses to Rome from the Eighteenth Century to the Present
- Roman Letters
- The Archaeology of Greece and Rome
- The Archaeology of Roman Britain
- The Athenian Empire
- The Greek World: Archaic and Classical Periods
- Transformations of Late Antiquity.
In your final year, you will write a dissertation.
