Study resources
You have access to the Birkbeck Library, eLibrary and comprehensive online resources. As a Birkbeck student, you will also be entitled to use many other libraries through a number of access agreements including the SCONUL Access Scheme, which allows you to borrow from the libraries of over 170 UK higher education institutions. These include the libraries at the Institute of Education, London School of Economics, and the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS). You will also be able access many other University of London libraries for reference only.

Further study opportunities
Students who successfully complete this Foundation Degree can continue their studies to undergraduate degree level either by transferring the credit from this programme to our BSc Professional Studies, or by applying to join the final year of the Bachelor of Education (BEd) Degree at the Institute of Education.
Students working in Early Years interested in attaining Early Years Professional Status (EYPS) may apply to do so at an institution that has been accredited to grant this.

- How to apply
Please note that a requirement of this degree is that you have an active and ongoing engagement in the education sector working directly with children or young people, either as a paid employee or as a volunteer for a minimum of one day a week. Unless you are already working in the sector, you will need to obtain both a placement and Criminal Records Bureau (CRB) clearance, both of which are likely to take some time to arrange. We therefore encourage you to apply as early as possible.
