Course structure
The programme consists of 12 modules and includes six compulsory modules in Years 1 and 2. In Years 3 and 4, you take one compulsory module, choose from a range of option modules and complete a dissertation.
Year 1- Development and Globalisation
- Global Environmental Issues
- Humans and the Environment.
Year 2
You will take two core modules:
- Children, Youth and International Development
- ‘Race’, Ethnicity and Development
plus one option module:
- Environment and Security or
- Environmental Processes.
Years 3 and 4
One core module:
And a choice of three option modules over the two years from a list including:
- Anthropology of Development and Tourism
- Anthropology of Space, Architecture and the Landscape
- Cultures of Development and Global Childhoods
- Globalisation in the Contemporary World
- Methods, Analysis and Techniques (prerequisite in Year 3 for students intending to submit a dissertation in Year 4).
Plus a compulsory dissertation (Development Studies Project) or a literature review.
