Course structure
To gain the BSc, you must successfully complete modules worth a total of 360 credits. You must take all core modules plus a choice from a range of option modules. You may take modules worth a total of 90 credits in each year.
Year 1
Core modules:
- Introductions: Community and Local Government Studies
- Introduction to Community and Governance
- Community-Based Project Development and Management.
Year 2
Core modules:
- Community Action
- Social Justice.
Option modules include:
- Developmental Approaches to Social Conflict (half-module)
- Political Approaches to Social Conflict (half-module)
- Psychological Approaches to Social Conflict (half-module)
- Sociological Approaches to Social Conflict (half-module).
Year 3
Core modules:
- Knowing the Social World
- Transformations in the Governance of Local Spaces: Power, Politics and Communities
- Participation and Community Engagement.
Year 4
Core modules:
- Equality and Diversity: The Development of Policy and Practice in Britain
- Dissertation or Practitioner Work-Based Learning Project.
