-
Course structure
You complete the equivalent of 12 full (30-credit) modules, normally taking six management modules and six culture and language modules. Depending on entry level, a maximum of five of these will be from one of the languages on offer, forming a language pathway. If you start with language pathway A or B, you will take four modules at Level 4, four modules at Level 5 and four modules at Level 6. For all other language pathways you will take three modules at Level 4, four modules at level 5 and five modules at Level 6.
The programme comprises 12 modules: four at Level 4; four at Level 5; and four at Level 6. Of these, six modules are normally taken in either French, German, Spanish or Portuguese and six are normally taken in management.
Languages
You will follow one of five language pathways, depending on your language level at entry. If you take intensive pathway A (Beginners), you will take two language modules in your first year. otherwise you will take one language module in your first year. Subsequent modules follow in sequence. The aim is to raise your language level to near-native standard in your chosen language by the end of the third or fourth year of study.
Remaining modules may be chosen from those relating to the culture (literature, film, visual arts, contemporary history) of the language studied (some of these are taught primarily in the language in question).
Management
Modules taken in the first two years have been designed to provide a firm appreciation of business and management, and the third and fourth years give you an opportunity for specialisation.
