Course structure
You complete the equivalent of 12 full (30-credit) modules, taking six film and media modules and six culture and language modules, four of which will be from one of the languages on offer, forming a language pathway. Four modules are taken at Level 4, four at Level 5 and four at Level 6.
Year 1
- one core language module (Level 4)
- one compulsory module (Level 4): Media Analysis
- one option module (Level 4) from: Introduction to Cinema; The Press in Britain; Television: History and Future.
Year 2
- one core language module (Level 4 or 5 according to language pathway)
- one optional culture module (Level 4 or 5 according to language pathway)
- one compulsory film and media module (Level 5): Film: Narrative and Genre.
Year 3
- one film and media option module (Level 5): Cultural Identity and the Media; or Storytelling in Television
- one core language or optional culture module (Level 5)
- one culture module (Level 6).
Year 4
- one core language or optional culture module (Level 6)
- compulsory final-year project in either film/media or culture (Level 6)
- one further Level 6 module either in film/media or culture (please note: two Level 6 modules are taken on each side of the programme).
