Biology (Certificate of Continuing Education) - 2012/2013 entry

This programme is ideal if you want to test your suitability for a full degree programme. If you successfully complete the Certificate of Continuing Education and then complete a further 30-credit module in the summer term, you are eligible to proceed directly to Year 2 of the following Birkbeck degree programmes:

• BSc Biodiversity and Conservation
• BSc Biological Sciences
• BSc Biomedicine
• BSc Chemical and Molecular Biology.

• Provides you with a foundation in the biological sciences.
• Emphasis on training in numerical, writing and computer-based skills, and on training and practice in scientific skills.
• Can be a stand-alone programme or can form Year 1 of our BSc Biodiversity and Conservation, BSc Biological Sciences, BSc Biomedicine or BSc Chemical and Molecular Biology.

You take the following modules (each worth 30 credits):

• From Molecules to Ecosystems
• Practical Skills for the Biosciences.

After you have completed the course and then complete a further 30-credit module in the summer term, you can go on to Year 2 of our BSc Biodiversity and Conservation, BSc Biological Sciences, BSc Biomedicine or BSc Chemical and Molecular Biology.

Graduates go on to careers in scientific research, in the health sector or public health settings, and in environmental organisations.
