  • Assessment

    • Modules are assessed by coursework. The Coaching module will be assessed by CD/transcripts of one-to-one coaching sessions with clients and a skills essay. The Organisational Consultancy module will be assessed by a case study linking theory to practice. 

  • Attendance
      • Consists of two academic modules taught over 18 teaching days (normally Fridays 9am–5pm) from January to December. 
      • You also attend a three-day (Friday–Sunday) Group Relations Conference.
  • Duration
      • One year accelerated part-time.
      • January–December.
  • Entry requirements
      • A good honours degree, or equivalent, from a recognised university.
      • Graduates and alumni of the Department of Organizational Psychology are encouraged to apply.
      • A good command of the English language, both written and oral (IELTS score of 7.0 or equivalent for applicants whose first language is not English). 
      • Management development professionals and consultants without a first degree but with suitable professional qualifications and at least five or more years' significant management experience in a range of organisations may be considered. 
      • You need to have some experience in working with individual or organisational clients and have ready access to practice clients both individually and at an organisational level.

  • Teaching

    • Eighteen face-to-face teaching and training days (running from January to December) combine a thorough grounding in theory with the development of core coaching and organisational consultancy skills. In-depth skills practice sessions and work discussion groups are led by experienced consultants with expertise in coaching, organisational career management and consultancy. Participation in a three-day group relations programme provides powerful experiential learning about unconscious dynamics in organisations. Students are allocated a personal tutor, who provides advice on progress and any learning difficulties, if requested. Access to suitable clients is required.

  • Overview

    • This intensive, one-year programme is designed for individuals wishing to add advanced coaching and organisational consultancy specialisms to their professional portfolio. The programme aims to equip coaches, consultants and HR professionals to work with groups and individuals at relational depth in organisations.

      The programme will teach psychodynamic and other psychological concepts to give insight and access to 'beneath-the-surface', individual and group dynamics. This theoretical foundation, alongside core skills will serve to deepen relationships with individual and organisational clients. The aim is to facilitate the development of a reflective and self-aware practitioner. 

      The Department of Organizational Psychology has a long-standing reputation in career coaching, and contributes to national and international research agendas. We pride ourselves on our ability to deliver practice borne out of theory and evidence.
