    • Examinations in January and June, coursework assignments, and submission of dissertation.
  • Attendance
      • 2-3 evenings a week part-time; 4-5 evenings a week full-time.
  • Duration
      • 2 years part-time or 1 year full-time.
  • Entry requirements
      • A first- or second-class degree, or its equivalent, in either a directly relevant or a quantitative subject; or the Birkbeck Graduate Diploma in Finance.
      • Students are expected to pass the pre-sessional modules on quantitative techniques and introductory finance in September.
      • We would recommend our Graduate Diplomas for students without the prerequisites in economics, finance, mathematics or statistics.

  • Overview

    • Specialist knowledge of finance is increasingly valued in commercial firms, government and academia. Students on the Birkbeck MSc Finance obtain excellent specialist training in financial economics, including basic portfolio theory, corporate finance, and advanced pricing theory applied to derivatives and government bond markets. They also learn the latest econometrics and numerical analysis skills important in the marketplace. The course is demanding and challenging; applicants should have strong intellectual ability and be willing to work hard.
