Overview
This is a generalist MSc and will be relevant to those who wish to pursue a career in accounting and to those who require a thorough knowledge of accounting as budget-holders.
We expect the MSc to be accredited by the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), and hopefully also by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), with significant exemptions (roughly 50 per cent of all examinations), as is the case with our undergraduate programmes.

Course structure
You take eight compulsory modules:
- Applied Financial Management
- Auditing
- Contemporary issues in Financial Reporting for Complex Entities
- Management Accounting and Decision Making 1
- Management Accounting and Decision Making 2
- Principles of Financial Reporting
- Research Methods in Management
- Valuation Analysis and Risk Management.
Plus a 20,000-word dissertation on any area of accounting or financial management.

Careers information
- The MSc will allow graduates to pursue a career in accounting, either as financial or management accountants. Alternatively, it will allow you to work within the accounting or finance function within a corporation, or to pursue a general managerial career.
