Overview
Marketing is the process by which companies determine what products or services may be of interest to customers, and the strategy to use in sales, communications and business development. In this programme, you will be introduced to the foundation of marketing, the theoretical underpinnings, the marketing mixes, and current issues and future trends of marketing. You will be confronted with a number of relevant issues, including branding, customer relationship management, e-marketing and green marketing, and will find the programme of study up-to-date, intellectually inspiring and relevant.

Course structure
MSc students take the following modules and write a 15,000-word dissertation:
- Brand Management
- Consumer Behaviour
- Marketing Management
- Marketing Strategy and Planning
- Marketing Research.
MSc students also choose three modules from the following (with no more than two from the Services and Retail programme):
- Marketing Communications
- International Marketing
- Retail Marketing
- Services Marketing
- Relationship Marketing
- Public Relations
- Strategic Sport Marketing.
MRes students take the following modules:
MRes students also choose three modules from the following, and write a 25,000-word dissertation:
- Brand Management
- Consumer Behaviour
- International Marketing

Further study opportunities
If you are interested in further research, we offer a PhD/MPhil in Management.
Progress to a PhD will normally be dependent on gaining at least a merit grade in the Master’s programme. It will also be dependent on a member of the teaching staff agreeing to act as principal supervisor for your PhD research.

A number of our graduates either get promoted, or go on within their own work organisations, or branch into new careers in a variety of settings, including local and national government, business and industry. Our qualifications in marketing are designed to provide a foundation both for those wishing to engage critically with the issues of marketing and business and for those wishing to be involved professionally in the process of marketing.
Possible careers include advertising, media marketing, event marketing, branding and brand management, sponsorship, public relations, marketing management, distribution, account management and market research.
