Overview
This programme offers students with experience of undergraduate-level study the opportunity to develop their knowledge of gender and sexuality studies and to enhance their independent study skills. Students who successfully complete the Graduate Certificate are eligible to apply for entry to the MA/MSc Gender, Sexuality and Culture/Society.

Course structure
This programme comprises two 30-credit modules, one based on a taught programme and the other based on independent study, with students selecting an appropriate topic of their choice to explore in depth:
- Gender: Space and Time: runs October–April with an exam in May/June.
- Gender and Sexuality: Theories and Debates: allows you to work independently on a relevant topic of your choice.

BiGS hosts experts in the field, organises a diverse range of events throughout the year, including dedicated postgraduate workshops and seminars, and sponsors a lively student postgraduate forum, which runs reading groups, workshops and symposia, as well as the BiGS students' blog.
