Linguistics and Japanese (Certificate of Higher Education) - 2013/2014 entry

Overview
- Undergraduates do not commonly get the chance to study applied linguistics, but this course offers you the opportunity to do just that. You'll reflect on the nature and functions of language and analyse language data from various social, cultural, psychological and theoretical perspectives. Also, learn beginner's-level Japanese to communicate in a variety of social and work situations. No prior knowledge of Japanese is required.

To gain the Certificate of Higher Education, you must successfully complete modules worth 120 credit points. This is made up of 4 modules: 3 at Level 4 and 1 at Level 5.
You take the modules Approaches to Language (LNLN026S4), Analysing Language Structure and Use (LNLN012S5), and Japanese 1 and 2, or 2 and 3, depending on your proficiency in the language over 2 years.
