Course structure and modules

To gain the Certificate of Higher Education, you must successfully complete four modules worth a total of 120 credit points. You must take Module 1 first, and we recommend that you take the remaining modules in order.
If your first language is not English and you require English language support, you should start with Module 1b, Approaches to Study with English Language Support (Intensive).
The Project on Social Policy (Module 3) is designed for those students who have completed two other modules.

Further study opportunities
Students who take modules worth 90 credit points with a minimum pass mark of 50% can progress into Year 2 of Birkbeck's BSc Social Science or BSc Community Development and Public Policy programme.
Students awarded the Certificate of Higher Education may apply for admission to foundation or undergraduate degrees in related subjects at Birkbeck.
