Course structure and modules

To gain the Certificate of Higher Education, you must successfully complete modules worth 120 credit points.
Take two 30-credit language modules (either Level 1 (Elementary) and Level 2 (Lower Intermediate), or Level 2 (Lower Intermediate) and Level 3 (Upper Intermediate), choosing from French, German, Japanese, Portuguese and Spanish, plus Understanding Culture – Theories and Texts and the appropriate Level 4 culture module from those listed below.
For Japanese, take two language modules plus Rethinking Japan and choose from a range of Level 5 option modules (contact us for details).
You may take only one language and you should normally pass the lower level module before enrolling on the next.
