    • Coursework and final examinations.

    • One evening a week per module. Japanese and Spanish language modules are also available on Saturdays.

  • Duration

    • Two–four years.

  • Entry requirements

    • No formal entry qualifications required. Applicants with no knowledge of the target language should enrol directly on an appropriate beginners-level module. Applicants with some knowledge will be asked to take a placement test to determine the appropriate level of entry.

  • Financial support
      • If you are a new student starting on a course in autumn 2012, you may be able to get a student loan to cover your fees and other Birkbeck financial support. Check if you're eligible.

  • Location
    • Central London.
  • Teaching
      • Language modules: practical classes with a variety of teaching methods, including working in pairs and groups.
      • Cultural modules: lectures, seminars and group work.
