The Art of Islamic Pattern I: An Introduction
This practical module introduces the principles of Islamic geometric design. Using the traditional tools of compass and straight edge, each week we will recreate a beautiful pattern from a different part of the Islamic world. We will also study the language of symmetry and proportion, consider the role of symbolism, and explore the integration of pattern within architectural space.
