Art in the Shadow of War: Britain 1918-1939
How should the art of this time be understood? Should we link its strangeness to the insecurities of war, to the terrifying new orthodoxies and opponents that came out of war; or do we sense its truth through the new inwardness born of modernism and psychoanalysis? Artists considered include Spencer, Nash, Epstein and Hepworth. The module includes two visits.
