French (2B) Int/Adv Language Course (subject to Placement Test)
This is the general enrolment module for all students wishing to study French 2B (leading to CEFR Upper B1 (Lower Intermediate)/upper AS level*). Offered over 16 weeks, this module focuses on French-language films using a coursebook written by the course convenor. You will study both full-length feature films and extracts grouped thematically. Among the directors whose work you might study are Jean Renoir, François Truffaut, Jean-Luc Godard, Claude Berri and Matthieu Kassowitz. You will also learn more about everyday life and the diverse cultures of the French-speaking world.
* Common European Framework of Reference for Languages. Please note: this is only an approximate equivalence.
This module is also being offered in the summer of 2012 (classes begin week of Monday 11 June 2012).
