Why study this course at Birkbeck?
This programme allows you to develop an understanding of the nature of politics and government in contemporary societies. You will compare and contrast the institutions and practices of government in different societies, and analyse and critique different theories of politics and government. You will also gain the skills to allow you to go on to further study in politics and the social sciences.

Course structure and modules

To gain the Certificate of Higher Education, you must successfully complete modules worth a total of 120 credit points. You will take four compulsory 30-credit modules.

* You must complete modules worth 90 credits with a minimum pass mark of 50% in order to progress into Year 2 of Birkbeck's BA Politics and Government or BA Global Politics and International Relations. You can transfer credits from the modules you have studied to these degree programmes.
