Course structure and modules

To gain the Certificate of Higher Education, you must successfully complete four modules, worth a total of 120 credit points.
You must take one of the compulsory modules (either Economic Principles or International Economics and Finance) and option modules worth 90 credits. You can take a maximum of two 15-credit half-modules.

Part-time options
Students who successfully complete two specified modules in one year can apply for admission to Birkbeck's part-time BSc(Econ) Financial Economics, BSc Financial Economics with Accounting, BSc Economic and Social Policy or BSc Economics and Business. For BSc(Econ) Financial Economics/Financial Economics with Accounting, you must pass Economic Principles and Quantitative Economic Methods with 60% or above. For BSc Economic and Social Policy/Economics and Business, you must pass Economic Principles and International Economics and Finance with 60% or above. Successful completion of the Certificate of Higher Education with a mark of 55% or above also fulfils the entry requirements for full-time degree programmes in business, economics or finance at London Metropolitan University.
