      • Modules 1–8: normally 100% coursework, and may take the form of written assignments, in-class tests and group presentations.
      • Module 9: written examination and an assignment. 
  • Attendance

    • Modules 1–8 are taught via six two-hour evening classes plus one full-day workshop, or three full-day Saturday workshops. 

      Module 9 is normally taught by nine three-hour evening classes.

  • Duration
    • Normally one–two years.
  • Entry requirements

    • There are no formal entry requirements. You must have work experience in a responsible position and should also have a strong interest in the subject and a willingness to commit to the goals of lifelong learning and personal development.

      All modules are taught at university level and you should be able to read, write and speak English fluently. If you need help, we offer a range of academic English and language development modules.

  • Financial support
      • If you are a new student starting on a course in autumn 2012, you may be able to get a student loan to cover your fees and other Birkbeck financial support. Check if you're eligible.

    • A series of lectures and practical-based workshops. Learning from organisational experiences and private study both form an important part of the learning process.

Management (Certificate of Higher Education) - 2012/2013 entry

      • Progress to Birkbeck's Foundation Degree in Management and complete it with two more years of part-time study.

    • This programme is ideal if you are looking for an introduction to management or if you wish to improve your effectiveness in an entry-level management role. You will gain valuable insights into the process, skills and practice of management – knowledge that will be applicable to a wide variety of individual needs and career goals.

    • On successful completion of the Certificate of Higher Education, you may proceed to Year 2 of Birkbeck's Foundation Degree in Management and gain that degree with two more years of part-time study. To do this, you must include Mathematics for Business as one of your Certificate of Higher Education modules.

      Suitably qualified applicants may also apply for admission to the second year of Birkbeck's BA Management, BSc Business or other undergraduate degrees, but will still need to complete modules from the first year of their degree programme that are not covered by the certificate.
