Join a rich and rewarding programme of historical study. You will have a choice of over 35 modules spanning subjects as varied as Egyptian burial rites to post-war migration, and will gain unparalleled access to some of London's leading archives and museums. You will be introduced to a variety of approaches, skills and historical methods, taught at the equivalent of first-year degree level. Coursework and assessments are designed to be approachable and flexible, aimed at enhancing your learning and developing a critical appreciation of the human past.

This certificate allows you to take the first steps towards a BA, working at your own pace and more flexibly than studying for a full degree.
Students who successfully complete the Certificate of Higher Education can gain exemption, subject to interview and results, from the first year of Birkbeck's BA History, BA History and Archaeology and BA Archaeology.
