Study Trip: Medieval Rome
Medieval pilgrims to Rome were motivated by their desire to visit the most important saints’ shrines in the Christian West. During this five-day study trip we will follow in their footsteps, tracing the development of the cult of the saints and its physical manifestation both inside and outside the walls of the City of Rome. It will encompass the most important basilicas of SS Peter and Paul and the shrines of less well-known Roman saints.
