The Dawn of Modernism: Vienna and Paris around 1900
The years around 1900 were ones of innovation and contradiction in European visual arts. We will introduce this period by focusing on these two great cities, the settings for exciting cross-currents in art, architecture and design. Manet, Klimt, Schiele, Gauguin, Wagner and Guimard are featured, as are pivotal exhibitions, café culture and the new art magazine.
