London is one of the great world cities, and this exciting multidisciplinary arts and humanities programme enables you to explore many diverse aspects of London's natural and built environment, past development and contemporary culture. It will help you develop your knowledge about our vibrant and fascinating city. You will discover how the past has shaped contemporary London and how the present might shape the city of the future. 

What will I be studying?

To gain the Certificate of Higher Education, you must successfully complete modules worth a total of 120 CATS points. This must include the core module, London: Nature and Culture (worth 30 CATS points). The options offered will change from year to year. You may, with the prior approval of the course director, include an appropriate London-themed module(s) from another Certificate of Higher Education programme in this prospectus.

What can I go on to do?

Students who successfully complete the Certificate of Higher Education are welcome to apply for the MA Cities and Culture (London Studies). You can also progress to foundation and undergraduate degrees in related subject areas at Birkbeck.
