English art flowers in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. Despite the political upheavals there is a vibrant court culture with Holbein, Van Dyck and Lely. This is the age of Hampton Court and the prodigy houses such as Longleat and Hardwick; but it is also the age of Inigo Jones and Wren.
