Introduction to Modern Philosophy

What exists? By looking at the history of philosophy we can begin to distinguish many different ways in which philosophers have answered this question. Here, building on the course Introduction to Ancient Philosophy, we will focus on the basic entities that leading 17th-century philosophers posited and around which many of their debates were organised: God, bodies, minds and moral laws.

This Short Course can be taken as a stand-alone course or it may be available as part of a Certificate of Higher Education.

Assessment is 100% by coursework, in the form of an essay, amounting to 2500-3000 words.
