Introductory Logic A: The Philosopher's Toolbox

Logic, 'the science of reasoning', investigates the difference between good and bad arguments. A natural language like English is full of imprecision and ambiguity; this course introduces the Sentence Calculus, a logically precise language, which makes it easier to evaluate the correctness of an argument.

This Short Course can be taken as a stand-alone course or it may be available as part of a Certificate of Higher Education.

It is assessed in equal parts by a take-home exercise and by an unseen end-of-term examination.
