New Light on Seventeenth-Century Dutch Painting

There has been much new research in recent years on many aspects of Dutch art and culture of the seventeenth century. This module provides an opportunity to consider these new approaches. We reflect on reappraisals of the work of major figures such as Rembrandt and Vermeer and explore themes such as the use of emblems in genre and landscape painting.
