      Programme overview

      This programme offers a general introduction to a range of key management issues and allows you to choose specialist modules from our wide range of offerings. This flexibility provides you with a thorough introduction to theoretical issues in management.

      Based in the School of Business, Economics and Informatics, the Department of Management is an internationally recognised centre of excellence in teaching, research and consultancy in the broad field of management. Our academic staff are active researchers as well as enthusiastic teachers, and regularly publish cutting-edge articles in the world's leading journals.

      We have particular research strengths in international business and strategy, the management of innovation and entrepreneurship, human resource management, corporate governance, sport management and marketing, as well as financial management and accounting.

      We offer students of all ages and backgrounds a chance to study either part-time or full-time in our department and to gain an internationally recognised University of London qualification.

        Entry requirements

        Normally at least a second-class honours degree in any subject area from a UK university or a non-UK equivalent. A professional or other qualification obtained by written examinations approved by the College.

        Relevant experience, supporting statements and references may be taken into consideration, especially in the case of non-standard applications.

        International entry requirements

        If English is not your first language or you have not previously studied in English, our usual requirement is the equivalent of an International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic Test) score of 6.5, with not less than 6.0 in each of the sub-tests.

        Part-time home/EU students: £ 3500 pa
        Part-time overseas students: £ 5325 pa

        Careers and employability

        Graduates can pursue careers in management, including local and national government, business, and industry. Possible professions include chartered management accountant, management consultant, or risk manager. This degree can also be useful in becoming a systems analyst, retail manager, or logistics and distribution manager.

        Teaching and assessment

        Teaching

        The approach to learning combines academic literature, management knowledge, experiential forms of work-based learning and critical self-awareness of the scope and limitations of management practice. The emphasis is on identifying core principles from relevant management research, theories and practices, and applying these to cases drawn from your personal experience in the workplace.

        You will be expected both to engage in individual study to develop a critical awareness of a range of core management concepts and principles, and to take part in a number of group learning forums outside the classroom.

        We also offer student support and study facilities.
