Parking, accessibility and accommodation

Parking 

  • Paid parking: there is an NCP car park at Russell Square, which is five minutes’ walk from both the Royal National Hotel (where you collect your tickets and gown) and Senate House (where the ceremony is held). 
  • Disabled parking: there is a limited number of disabled parking spaces outside Senate House, which can be booked on a first-come-first-served basis. Please  at least six weeks before your ceremony, to book one of these spaces and make any other arrangements for your needs. 

Accessibility 

  • Senate House and the Royal National Hotel are accessible to visitors with restricted mobility, including wheelchair users. 
  • The Events Team may contact you before the ceremony, to confirm your requirements and ensure the event will be as accessible as possible to you. 
  • If you and/or your guests have particular seating requirements, please complete the relevant section on the booking form and include information on the following: 
    • if you and/or your guests have restricted mobility 
    • if you and/or your guests have sensory restrictions (hearing and seeing) 
    • if you and/or your guests cannot manage steps 
    • if you and/or your guests require an end of row seat. 

Accommodation 

  • We have negotiated a special rate at the Montague Hotel for guests of Birkbeck graduates who wish to stay in London overnight. The hotel is a few minutes' walk from Senate House. 
  • When booking, please quote code 106 336 to obtain the special rate.
