'As a Victorian specialist I knew about the first-class reputation of Birkbeck. The study of popular culture draws together history, literature, publishing and social context, and the interdisciplinary approach made it easier to explore these links.'

'I'm quite a shy person, but I feel much more confident as a result of encouragement from the staff. They really pushed me to build up my CV, which definitely paid off as I'm now a senior lecturer in Victorian studies at Edge Hill University.'

Minna is currently editing a new version of the gothic novel The Beetle, by Richard Marsh, to be published in a couple of months.
