Caitlin Cunningham

Caitlin Cunningham was awarded both a BA and a Master's at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, Canada. She will be working with Prof. Joanna Bourke on "Sex, Violence and Power: Rape in the Gold Rush Pacific". Through a study of various spaces and times - California in 1848, British Columbia in 1850, then Australia and New Zealand, to conclude with Alaska in 1896, she aims to complicate our historical understanding of rape, and to offer insights into the workings of power at formative moments of our colonial, economic and social history.
