• Co-founder of EDICE (Studies on Polite Discourse in Spanish) (network based in Stockholm)
• Co-coordinator of the working group on pragmatic variation in Spanish housed within the Latin American Association of Philology and Linguistics (ALFAL).
• Co-organizer of the First Pragmatics and Intercultural Communication Symposium held in London (June 2009).
• Co-organizer of the First UK Hispanic Linguistics Conference (Guildford, 2002) and the first EDICE colloquium (Stockholm, 2002). 
• Member of the scientific committee for the II UK Hispanic Linguistics Conference (Southampton, 2004), the I (Stratchclyde, 2006), the II (Swansea, 2008) and the III (Limerick, 2010) Spanish in Society Conferences; also member of the scientific committee for the Fourth Symposium on Intercultural, Cognitive and Social Pragmatics EPICS IV (Seville, 2010), the Hispanic Linguistics Symposium (Bloomington, Indiana, 2010), Congreso de la Asociación Española de Lingüística Aplicada AESLA (Salamanca, 2011), and Simposio Internacional sobre la Ironía y el Humor (Alicante, 2011).
