Carmen Martín Gaite 10 years on: revisiting her textual and visual legacy

  • IGRS, Stewart House, London, 10-11 December 2010
  • Co-organizers: Dr Maria-José Blanco and Dr Jessamy Harvey with the collaboration of Dr Mercedes Carbayo-Abengózar

The Centre for Iberian and Latin American Visual Studies and the Centre for the Study of Contemporary Women’s Writing are collaborating on a two day conference hosted by the Institute of Germanic and Romance Studies, London, focusing on the textual and visual output of Spanish writer Carmen Martín Gaite (1925-2000) on the 10th anniversary of her death.

The aim of this conference is to bring all participants into a dialogue about the ways in which our perceptions of the author have changed in the last decade not only with the emergence of posthumous work, which invites a review of past scholarship, but also given the increased importance of visual studies within Hispanism.
