Fire Safety

A new system for managing evacuation of the Malet Street building is being implemented. The system is called TagEvac and boards containing the system are being put up in key areas around the building. These are to be used only by trained Fire Wardens who will be provided with information on their use once all the boards are in position. In the meantime, the usual arrangements for fire evacuation remain in force. There will be no change to the general evacuation strategy, only to the method by which we ensure that areas of the building are clear.

As usual, a number of training opportunities are coming up. Details on the Health and Safety Service Website.

  • Level 2 Award in Fire Safety – Suitable for Fire Wardens. – Full day examined course. 16 November.

  • Level 2 Award in Health and Safety at Work – Suitable for Safety Coordinators – Full day examined course.  5 December.

  • Evacuation Chair training - Half day course. 8 January, AM and PM.

  • Emergency first aid at work - Full day course. 12 January.
