Birkbeck, University of London Health and Safety Services

Influenza Pandemic Information

The purpose of this page is to provide information on the developing situation in relation to swine flu and influenza generally.

Just to confirm the College is operating on a business as usual basis as far as possible but we are monitoring the position closely in the light of advice from the relevant agencies.

We will use this web page to communicate any necessary guidance and to provide, through the links below, information and advice from Birkbeck, UK government and health service sources.

At the moment, Health Protection Agency (HPA) guidance (see below) suggests that students and staff who feel well should attend Birkbeck as normal.  However, anyone experiencing flu-like symptoms should stay at home and contact  the National Flu Service on 0800 1 513 100 or log on to www.direct.gov.uk/pandemicflu

Line managers receiving a report of staff absence due to Swine flu should forward the details immediately to swine-flu@bbk.ac.uk  (See the College Secretary's statement from 1 July 2009 below for more information on this).
