A small urban park designed by artist Barbara Grygutis in 1984, the Alene Dunlop Smith Garden is a memorial to the founder of the El Presidio Historic District of Tucson. The garden features a series of ceramic tiled sculptures and benches and native plants.

The garden is open 24 hours a day, free of charge.

The Jacquie and Bennett Dorrance Sculpture Garden opened in 2006 as part of the Phoenix Art Museum’s $50 million expansion project, which also included a new 25000 square foot gallery wing. The sculpture garden hosts an exciting collection of contemporary sculpture on loan from collectors Carole and Joel Bernstein. The artists from the collection include Magdalena Abakanowicz, Eric Fischl, Jaume Plensa, Kiki Smith, Tom Otterness and Joel Shapiro.

The garden was designed by the landscape architecture firm Reed Hilderbrand Associates of Watertown, Massachusetts. Through the careful integration of sculpture and landscape, the designers have created a sculpture garden for the desert, providing spaces for contemporary art and cool shady areas for respite from the heat of Arizona state.

The museum is open Wednesday, 10am-9pm, Thursday-Saturday, 10am-5pm and Sunday, 12pm-5pm. On the first Friday of each month the museum is open till 10pm. Closed Mondays, Tuesdays and major holidays. Admission is charged.

Roden Crater Project

In the San Francisco mountain range, Volcanic Field, at the edge of the Painted Desert is the 75 story high, well shaped Roden Crater cinder cone rising up from the desert floor with a rim that is circular and flat. In what is probably the largest piece of art under construction in the world, James Turrell is creating an observatory that will mediate between geological and celestial time, according to the artist. The work is a visual experience, a "Homogeneous field" akin to white noise to the eye, a perfect featureless sensual field or "undifferentiated surrounds'.

This centre with its sculpture garden opened in 2007. The garden contains a permanent installation by artist Brower Hatcher which is joined by a rotation of temporary sculptures and there are plans for other permanent commissions in the future.

The TJCC Sculpture Garden features over 30 works by a range of international sculptors, including local artists. Tucson Museum of Art Director Robert Knight juried the artists’ submissions and made the final selections. Its grand opening in November 2009 coincided with the community center's 60th anniversary.

There are permanent works and a rotating display of sculptures on display in the sculpture garden, installed in the beautiful desert setting.
