Auckland Domain, one of Auckland’s major parks hosts a permanent walk featuring sculptural works by some of New Zealand’s leading artists. Initiated in 2001, the full-scale sculptures were installed in the Domain during 2004 and 2005.

Connells Bay Sculpture Park, on Waiheke Island, comprises a growing collection of site specific and purchased sculptures in various medium by some of New Zealand’s best known sculptors. Accommodation is available on their 60 acre coastal property.

Open by prior appointment only, late October to late April. Bookings are essential and children must be supervised.

South of Auckland, on the North Island is this 42-acre arboretum and sculpture park. Planting started in 1991 to transform an abandoned quarry carved out of a Waikato hillside into a landscaped garden, ponds, waterfalls and sculpture exhibition area. This sculpture park is the location of successive sculpture exhibitions along a 2 km trail.

Privately owned.

Open Daily, 10am until dusk. Entry Fee

Forty-five minutes north of Auckland, on the North Island, is the sculpture garden and gallery of artist Terry Stringer. Located in a pastoral New Zealand setting, Zealandia is the dramatic site for both contemporary art and architecture.

Open every weekend from November to end of March and by appointment. Open every day in January. From 10am to 4pm. Guided tours at 11am and 2pm. Admission charge.
